Untether staff members, enhance service and communication in branches and retail stores.”

UI/UX Requirements

We developed a demo software platform that could be used for customer and staff journeys and test.

The customer app is running on iOS and Android whereas the staff app is an Android application only.

The platform is used to test new UI features but is not intended for sale.

Customer App

This demo app IS NOT intended for production use but rather creates a framework which helps teams to quickly build out new mobile features and test them stand-alone or in connection with NCR hardware.

Team Member App

This demo app IS NOT intended for production use either but as well delivers a platform on which team member specific use cases and journeys can be created, tested and demoed.

Hardware Requirements

A majority of bank and retail systems run on Windows. We created a Windows 10 handheld to cover our customer needs in their industries.

All handhelds have integrated payment solutions.

Market Research

It is hard to differentiate these existing product offerings by brand.

None of them run Windows or support card based payments which limits them to become true desktop replacements.

Accessories

We prototyped a number of accessories.

A USB-C stand for charging and as a dock to turn the mobile device into a PC.

And a holster which charges the handheld and allows the user to always carry the device with them.

Prototyping

3D printed

These were created to perform low fidelity prototypes and test component arrangement and basic usability.

CNC machined

The first CNC machined prototypes were used to get a better feeling for the Industrial Design.

Continued refinement

We kept adjusting the form, placement of components and manufacturing processes.

Final details

We created several color and finishing samples which were used for internal and external tests and surveys.

Final Design

The recess helps with better pin alignment and the possibility to lock the device to a stand.

On the bottom is a slot for chip card as well as NFC on the top.
